Jersey Fabric Information

Heavier weight indigo denim style jersey apparel fabric. The heavier feel of the fabric reflects its denim routes but the extra stretch the jersey provides opens up some interesting possibilities.

We describe this as a: Heavy Weight Jersey (280gsm).
As a rough guide lightweight options come in at 100 - 140gsm mark. At the 280gsm weight the fabric is truly reflective of its routes as a denim.

The Fabric - Ordering & Offers

The fabric is priced per metre.

To order simply add metres to your basket - we will cut as one continuous length. Half metres are available by entering 0.5 (half metre), 1.5 (one and a half metres) etc.

However here are some crucial items:

Needles - Stitch with Jersey Ballpoint Machine Needles. The ball of the needle parts the Jersey fibres rather than piercing them to help ensure the elastic quality remain intact.

Thread - Stitch with Empress Thread Plus, it is twice as strong but not twice as thick as a standard general purpose sewing thread - so you can use the same needle. Ideal for heavier weight fabrics, stress seams etc.

Empress Thread Plus is included if you 'add a matching thread above'.

Interfacing - Vlieseline (Vilene) Stretch Interfacings are created especially for working with fabrics such as Jersey. They add a little more body to make sewing easier.
