Schmetz Jeans Needles are manufactured with a medium ballpoint designed to penetrate thick and solid fabrics easier & without damage. The needle's reinforced blade causes less deflection during sewing and reduces the risk of needle breakage and skip stitches.
Also, a slightly larger eye than usual allows the jeans needle to accommodate heavier weight threads for stitching fabrics such as denim.

Schmetz Jeans Needle Info.
Schmetz Jeans Needles are available in various sizes (cross-sectional diameter). Sizes start from 70nm (0.7mm thickness) up to 110nm (1.1mm thickness).
Ideal for a range of heavier / thicker textiles they are manufactured with a reinforced shaft and point designed to pierce denser fabrics.
As well as these properties making the needle ideal for work with Denim they are now extensively used by quilters due to their ability to handle dense & thick projects. Other fabrics suitable for use with jeans needles include canvas, oilcloth, vinyl, PVC Glass & more.
For ease of identification, Schmetz stamp the needle size on the shank of every needle they manufacture plus add a coloured tip. The Jeans Needle Tip is a: BLUE TIP.
